Michael Goetting is an author, journalist and curator living in Berlin. The extensive promotion tour of his 2015 debut novel Contrapunctus was partially funded by the German Embassy in Washington, D.C., the Goethe Institute in Montreal and Rosa Luxemburg Foundation. He read and lectured at Georgetown University, the University of North Carolina (Chapel Hill), Dalhousie University and Technische Universität Berlin among others. He was the Writer-in-Residence at the Center for European, Russian and Eurasian Studies at the Munk School of Global Affairs in Toronto the year after Contrapunctus was released. Appearances at festivals like Writing in Migration and Republik Repair followed. At the Berlin theater Ballhaus Naunynstrasse he was artist, co-curator, author and co-editor during the theater’s black perspectives festivals BLACK LUX, WE ARE TOMORROW and REPUBLIK REPAIR. At Each One Teach One (EOTO) he is Head of Library and co-curator of the AFROLUTION literary and cultural festivals of 2018 and 2019. As a journalist he writes for Goethe-Institute, magazines and newspapers like ZEIT ONLINE, Neues Deutschland, the German weekly Der Freitag, Tagesspiegel and others. He received his Master’s Degree in North American Studies and German Literature at Freie Universität Berlin.
Michael Götting ist Autor, Journalist und Kurator und lebt in Berlin. Sein Romandebüt Contrapunctus erschien 2015. Die darauf folgende Lesetour in Deutschland, Kanada und den USA wurde u.a. von der Deutschen Botschaft in Washington, D. C., dem Goethe-Institut in Montreal und der Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung Niedersachen finanziert. Er las und hielt Vorträge an der Georgetown University, der University of North Carolina (Chapel Hill), Dalhousie University, der Technischen Universität in Berlin und anderen. Er war Writer-in-Residence am Center for European, Russian and Eurasian Studies der Munk School of Global Affairs (University of Toronto). Es folgten Auftritte bei Festivals wie WRITING IN MIGRATION und REPUBLIK REPAIR. Am Berliner Ballhaus Naunynstrasse war er Künstler, Co-Kurator sowie Autor und Mitherausgeber der Schwarze Perspektiven Festivalbroschüren zu BLACK LUX, WE ARE TOMORROW und REPUBLIK REPAIR. Bei Each One Teach One (EOTO) e.V. ist Michael Götting Leiter der Bibliothek und Co-Kurator der AFROLUTION Literatur- und Kulturfestivals 2018 und 2019. Als Journalist schreibt er für das Goethe-Institut, Magazine und Zeitungen wie ZEIT ONLINE, Neues Deutschland, die Wochenzeitung Der Freitag, den Tagesspiegel und andere. Er erhielt seinen M.A. in Nordamerikastudien und Neuere deutsche Literatur an der Freien Universität in Berlin.
